I was born in Adelaide in 1962 and moved to Yorketown, Yorke Peninsula, with my mother and brother when I was four years of age.
After completing my schooling at Yorketown Area School I worked for the local council.
In 1988 I married local girl Donna. We built a house in Maitland and raised two wonderful children, Tyler and Kelsey.
I was Chief Executive Officer of the Orroroo Peterborough Council in the Mid North of South Australia from November 1993 to March 1999 and General Manager of a council in the Hunter Valley, NSW, from March 1999 to July 2000.
From July 2000 to January 2006 I was Chief Executive Offficer for the District Council of Yorke Peninsula, before being elected the Member for Goyder in March 2006.
For most of my 10 years in Parliament I have served in the Shadow Cabinet with various Shadow Ministry portfolios and responsibilities.
I am a strong advocate for regional South Australia, and love living in Maitland on Yorke Peninsula.
